Global Style Kitchens

The kitchen has evolved over the years and taken on many styles. Themes from around the world are still wildly popular in many countries, including our own.

Philadelphia Kitchen DesignOver time, the kitchen has evolved from merely a cooking room to a congregational room where families meet and talk and, of course, cook and eat. Once a covered patio in a courtyard on which a fire was built, the kitchen has always been one of the most essential rooms in a house.

Over the years it was moved indoors, and gradually took on more importance. This is represented by the different locations it has taken on through time, until now it is the central location of many households, and even where some families eat all their meals. Many of the kitchen concepts employed years ago, and those employed in other parts of the world are now becoming more popular.

It was reported that consumers are now asking for designs they find more appealing on a global level, and asking that those elements be applied to their own kitchens.

USA Kitchen DesignA series of geometric shapes are now being used, creating curves that in turn create an individual look for the kitchen. While in the USA, New Englanders tend to stay true to a home's architectural style, European elements and color are making statements in design there, while Philadelphia consumers are favoring high drama. These include sleek, high-gloss designs with a lot of flare.

Because the many architectural styles, both old and new, are still widely used when building houses and remodeling rooms, many of the theories employed in them are making a return and becoming more popular than ever. Now, medium and darker stains are replacing painted and distressed looks in the Chicago area, while Minnesota seems to prefer the California look.

Designers are beginning to ponder the new-found popularity of global preferences, especially in areas of the country, and even the world, that previously stuck to tradition and culture. People are now stepping outside "the norm", and branching out in other directions.

While designers continue to wonder just what is causing what many refer to as this truly strange phenomenon, customers continue to look around them and try for something different. They key is to have it drastically different, and many are achieving just that.

While the standard designs still apply, it isn't uncommon for a customer to visit another part of the country or world and decide to take on its architectural appearance. This, however, is expected to keep designers busy for a very long time.
